“Thanks. That’s a great compliment, you must have a great mouth” No kidding, I’ve got such compliments about my photos and camera, but not about me. I’ve never said to my neighbours, “These are great cookies, you must have a great oven”.
The first genuine compliment about my photos from someone who is not in the photography community was from a 12 year old girl who was flipping through my book “How to do Photographic Story Telling”.

What I try to do is create images that have balanced light (no harsh light and shadow), have a story or interesting content that makes the viewer want to look at it longer than normal photos. I balance movement and frozen elements. I adjust to avoid distractions, and ensure the colours appear right for the scene.
